Following Brunei Darussalam Central Bank’s (BDCB) announcement of the New Family Banknotes Series on 22 September 2025, the series – featuring BND1, BND5, BND10, BND100, and BND500 – will be available at local banks starting Monday, 9 March 2026.

Distribution of the new banknotes will be facilitated through the local banks, subject to stock and availability.

The new series incorporates enhanced security features in line with global currency advancements, reinforcing the integrity of Brunei Darussalam’s currency and deterring counterfeiting.

This initiative reflects BDCB’s commitment to secure and reliable banknotes, recognising that cash continues to play an important role alongside the nation’s shift toward a digital economy.

BDCB assures the public that all existing banknotes in circulation will remain legal tender and will continue to circulate alongside the new series.
