Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) has commissioned the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) to conduct the 4th National Financial Literacy Survey 2025, scheduled to take place from 12 December 2025 to 12 February 2026.

The survey provides a comprehensive assessment of financial literacy by examining financial knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours, alongside key dimensions of digital financial literacy, financial inclusion, financial resilience, and financial well-being. In addition to establishing a current national baseline, the study will track trends over time and analyse how socio-demographic factors shape financial outcomes across the population. The resulting evidence will be internationally comparable and will serve as a critical input for the design of targeted financial education programmes, regulatory initiatives, and policy interventions in support of Brunei Vision 2035.

Fieldwork will be conducted through a nationwide face-to-face household survey, drawing on a statistically representative random sample of 1,800 households across all four districts and targeting adults aged between 18 to 79 years. Each interview is expected to last approximately 60 minutes, allowing for in-depth data collection.

To ensure high data quality and consistency, CSPS has appointed a team of 60 trained interviewers who will be deployed nationwide. All interviewers have undergone comprehensive training prior to the commencement of fieldwork and will operate in strict accordance with established data collection protocols and quality assurance standards. These interviewers will have on them a valid identification pass and will be wearing a CSPS vest. Households selected for participation are encouraged to verify their identities against the official list published on the CSPS website prior to the start of the survey.

All information collected will be treated with the strictest confidentiality and used exclusively for statistical and research purposes. No personally identifiable information, such as names or identity card numbers, will be collected.
