BDCB and BCMA Lead World Investor Week 2025 Initiatives in Brunei Darussalam

1 MIN READ

In celebration of World Investor Week (WIW) 2025, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB), in collaboration with the Brunei Darussalam Capital Markets Association (BCMA), is driving a series of initiatives to strengthen investor education, investor protection, and financial literacy in Brunei Darussalam. This annual global campaign, spearheaded by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), brings together financial regulators and stakeholders worldwide.

This year’s WIW, running from 6 to 12 October 2025, emphasises three key themes: technology and digital finance, artificial intelligence, and fraud and scam prevention, with additional focus areas on crypto assets and the basics of investing.

As part of BDCB and BCMA’s initiative to celebrate WIW, the following have been carried out and are lined up to equip the public with practical knowledge and skills:

  • Career Pathways in Capital Markets – On 12 September 2025, a panel discussion was held at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Career Fair to introduce students to the experiences of regulators and practitioners in the capital markets field.

  • Roadshows – Licensed intermediaries will conduct roadshows to local higher education institutions to showcase digital investment tools and provide students with firsthand insights into the industry's operations.

  • Investment Challenge – A hands-on competition for selected students designed to sharpen investment decision-making, highlight risk awareness, and encourage long-term portfolio building will be conducted. More details will be announced in the near future.

  • Smart Investing Social Media Campaign – A series of educational posts on investor protection and smart financial habits, to be featured on the Instagram accounts of BDCB (@centralbank.brunei) and Usinwise (@usinwise).

BDCB and BCMA encourage students, young professionals, and members of the public to participate in these activities to gain valuable exposure to capital markets and build confidence in navigating investment opportunities and risks.
