The National Financial Literacy Day (NFLD) 2025 Financial Awareness Roadshow, with the theme “Money Smart, Digitally Safe”, concluded today with a closing ceremony held at Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri (STPRI) Hall. The ceremony marked the culmination of a two-day event co-organised by Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) and the Ministry of Education (MOE), aimed at strengthening financial literacy among students through interactive learning and engagement.
Yang Mulia Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) of the Ministry of Education (MOE), attended as the guest of honour. Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Rashidah binti Haji Sabtu, Managing Director of BDCB and member of the National Financial Literacy Council (NFLC), Yang Mulia Awang Mohammad Harris Bin Brigadier Jeneral (Retired) Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Trade and Industry), Ministry of Finance and Economy, as Secretariat of the NFLC, as well as senior officials from MOE and BDCB.
A key highlight was the prize-giving ceremony for the FIN-novators competition. Their projects, which were showcased in the Financial Maze on the first day of the roadshow, featured interactive tools and games that reflected real-life financial scenarios and concepts. In the Teachers’ Category, first place went to Pusat Tingkatan Enam Belait, represented by Cikgu Norlela Haji Puasa, Cikgu Nur Amalina Md Jair, and Cikgu Haji Ahmad Nashihin Haji Salim with their product ‘Takaful Trail’. Second place was awarded to Sekolah Menengah Masin, while third place went to Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Othman. For the Students’ Category, Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan emerged as the champion, with team members Dk Alviana Arena Adlina Amirah binti Pg Alimin, Nur Aliah binti Dato Seri Pahlawan Spry, and Jaezah Thaqifah binti Hamjah with their product ‘Reality Cheque/Ringgit Rangers'. Second place was secured by Sekolah Menengah PAP Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah, followed by another team from Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan in third place.
Prior to the closing ceremony, the final day of the roadshow continued with booth activities within the Financial Maze. Students explored various topics such as financial management, savings and investment, digital payments, retirement planning, entrepreneurship, and financial consumer protection. The maze featured booths from BDCB, the Royal Brunei Police Force, Employees’ Trust Fund (TAP), Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), Cyber Security Brunei, Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB), Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Baiduri Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank Usahawan, Insurans Islam TAIB, Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam, AIA Brunei, BIBD Securities, Standard Chartered Securities, National Digital Payment Network (ndpx), and Datastream Digital (DST).
In total, over 2,000 students from Years 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 participated in the event from all four districts, with special efforts made to include those from remote and underserved catchment areas.
The NFLD 2025 Financial Awareness Roadshow reflects BDCB’s commitment to fostering a financially literate and digitally resilient generation. Through collaborative outreach, it seeks to equip youth with the long-term knowledge and skills to manage their finances wisely, navigate the digital financial landscape safely, and become empowered financial decision-makers.
